Commercial stair repair: new stone treads, brick risers and tactile paving

Commercial stair repair: new stone treads, brick risers and tactile paving

We removed and rebuilt a set of commercial entrance stairs that had failed in use. The existing steps were broken out, treads excavated and the formation prepared behind hoarding while the adjacent block paving and tactile blister paving were protected.

New reconstituted stone treads were bedded with brick risers and a contrasting nosing line, restoring a level, durable flight suitable for public and commercial access. The photos show both the strip-out of the old yellow-and-red marked steps and the new stone staircase taking shape.

Stair repair of this kind combines demolition, brickwork and paving. It improves safety at building entrances, deals with trip hazards and gives a long-lasting finish that stands up to heavy foot traffic.
